What is your Deepest Prayer this new year?

Photo Project for the Jewish New Year

In preparation for 5782, we invite you to pull out your camera (or cell phone!) and capture a photograph in response to one or all of our prompts crafted especially for Elul, the 12th and final month in the Jewish calendar and a time when we reflect on where we stand and where we should be going.

If you live with several TIOH members, you can collaborate on one photo or each submit one. This is a community-wide, collaborative art project and everyone is welcome to participate!

Here’s your second prompt from Rabbi Mari:

“WHAT IS YOUR DEEPEST PRAYER FOR THIS NEW YEAR?

“Avinu Malkeinu, hear our plea.” (High Holy Day Liturgy)

For many of us, theology is loaded and complicated. It can be difficult to reconcile what think we are “supposed to” believe with what we observe in the real world and what we know to be true. And yet, prayers such as Avinu Malkeinu can take us outside of our rational systems of belief. Whether we think God is listening or not, we can pray as if God is.

Imagine for a moment that you have God’s full and undivided attention. What is your deepest prayer for the new year?

We can’t wait to see what you share!
