Job Posting – Communications Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated, mission-driven, and creative communications professional who will partner with our leadership to effectively engage our current and prospective members in our temple and school communities. The ideal candidate will have the experience and skills to help us deliver the right message, to the right constituent, at the right time. Your strengths in the areas of design, technology, storytelling, teamwork, and organization will be key to our work together. This position reports directly to our Executive Director and Director of Community Engagement and works closely with our clergy, school directors/admissions/ program staff, Development Director, and our board Communications VP. 

ABOUT TEMPLE ISRAEL OF HOLLYWOOD (TIOH)

TIOH is home to three vibrant schools – Bay-Nimoy Early Childhood Center, Briskin Elementary School, and Religious School/Teen Program.

Responsibilities

  1. Establish the most effective methods, priorities, and means for managing and communicating the TIOH and school brands to various constituencies
  2. Partner with our school admissions staff, membership team, and development office to develop a communications strategy and calendar to optimize student enrollment, membership, and fundraising goals respectively
  3. Design and prepare visually appealing and audience-tailored communications assets using a cohesive voice to promote upcoming programs and campaigns via email, social media, video and/or print
  4. Manage our temple and school websites and calendar, ensuring ease of navigation and current content
  5. Build and maintain a photo library and graphic assets archive
  6. Update and maintain style guidelines for each program area and school; and maintain overall cohesiveness and consistency in visual brand identity
  7. Advise colleagues about best communications practices and available resources to achieve maximum impact
  8. Design and edit weekly e-newsletters, our quarterly print bulletin, and a variety of other assets as needed
  9. Be present and proactive as a team leader and to capture happenings during designated programs and rituals/holidays, which might be outside normal working hours

In Your Toolkit

  • Communication skills to tell our story and support other storytellers in a compelling manner coupled with strengths in writing and proofreading.
  • Graphic design skills to create compelling artwork
  • Social media and technology acumen
  • Interpersonal skills and collaborative nature in working with clergy, school directors, lay leaders, committees/volunteers, and other staff. These relationships will be sacred partnerships.
  • Organizational skills to set goals, develop and implement a communications calendar and timelines, coordinate a wide range of logistics, and engage stakeholders.
  • Curiosity and entrepreneurial mindset to get to know our history, research and apply best practices, take risks, and learn from the work we’ll do together.
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for Jewish tradition, calendar, and customs or the desire to learn.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in communications with demonstrated results and a portfolio of work
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), WordPress, and Constant Contact (or similar applications)
  • Critical thinker and a proactive doer
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Good sense of humor
  • Flexibility
