Below is an evolving list of Hebrew words and how we spell them at TIOH.
G’mar Chatimah Tovah
Passover or Pesach*
Seder and seder plate
Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel Memorial Day)
Yom HaZikaron (Independence Day)
All transliterated words should be italicized in email newsletters, letters, and print.*
* Notable exceptions could be for commonly used and well-known words in this community such as Shabbat, Bar/Bat Mitzvah/B’nai Mitzvah, and Mazel Tov. As well during certain Jewish Holidays (the High Holidays in particular) where the words used would be so commonplace, it may render the entire sentence or paragraph filled with italics. (This includes any designed materials). Please use common sense in this regard. At TIOH we should never write anything that is visually distracting and should never write anything with too many italics, bolded words, and underlines.Home
