We look forward to welcoming you as we celebrate the start of a new year. High Holiday tickets are included as a benefit of TIOH membership (TIOH members will receive tickets in advance of the holidays). Renew your membership if you have not already in order to receive tickets shortly before Rosh Hashanah.


High Holiday Family/Tot Service Programs are open to the public (no tickets are required). Childcare and youth programs will also be available while parents are attending services on campus for kids two years through 6th grade. Click on this link to sign up for childcare during services.

All our services will be led by our clergy, which includes Senior Rabbi Mari Chernow, Rabbi Michelle Missaghieh, Rabbi Calvin Dox-DaCosta, and Cantorial Soloist Shelly Fox.

Erev Rosh Hashanah – Wednesday, October 2

6:00 pm Erev Rosh Hashanah, Miller Hall. Welcome in the Jewish New Year through spirit-lifting prayer and song, as we look towards the promise of a fulfilling year ahead. This service will be available on Zoom.

7:30 pm Erev Rosh Hashanah Dinner, Goodman Courtyard. Enjoy a delicious twist on the traditional holiday meal, catered by hom hospitality. Reservations are required.

Rosh Hashanah – Thursday, October 3

8:30–9:00 am Tot/Family Service, A multigenerational service for families, especially younger elementary school children and tots, including stories, prayers, and a Torah service.

9:15 am Minyan Service, Miller Hall. Sing, pray, laugh and cry with our TIOH in-house band (the Chai Tones, led by the talented Michael Skloff). A service enriched with modern melodies and contemporary music that uplifts and inspires. Chris Bubser, Michael Gropper and Eric Levander will sound the shofar. This service will be available on Zoom.

11:00 am Sanctuary Service, Nussbaum Sanctuary. A blend of classic and contemporary melodies that honors tradition and welcomes the New Year with reverence. Chris Bubser, Michael Gropper, and Eric Levander will sound the shofar.

4:00 pm Tashlich by the Beach, Palisades Beach, by the Annenberg Community Beach House. Hear the shofar, sing avinu malkaynu, and meet new people! Open to all ages.

Rosh Hashanah Day 2 – Friday, October 4

10:00 am Day 2 Service, Miller Hall. No Ticket Required. An intimate service when we go even deeper with our thoughts, yearnings and hopes. TIOH members Lucy Pinkwater, Sam Pitman, and Amanda Witman will personally reflect on one of the prayers of the High Holiday liturgy. This service will be available on Zoom.

1:00 pm Community Lunch, Goodman Courtyard. Join us for a special High Holiday Lunch after services, open to the entire community. Generously sponsored by Mitchell and Lizzie Schwartz.

Kever Avot V’Imahot – Sunday, October 6

10:00 am Kever Avot V’Imahot Service in memory of our loved ones. At Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary.

Kol Nidre – Friday, October 11

6:00 pm–7:00 pm Family Service, Miller Hall. A family-friendly High Holiday service with conversation, contemporary melodies, and an inspiring story from one of our rabbis. No tickets required.

8:00 pm Kol Nidre Service, Nussbaum Sanctuary. Led by our clergy, the incantations will stir your soul. Hear the familiar liturgy and take in the inspiring words as our 25-hour fast begins. This service will be available on Zoom.

Yom Kippur – Saturday, October 12

8:30–9:00 am Tot Service, Nussbaum Sanctuary. Geared towards youngsters and families, with songs and stories from our rabbis.

9:15 am Minyan Service, Miller Hall. A reflective service, where we sing, pray, cry and yearn for renewal and wholeness. Michael Skloff on piano and his trio, along with the clergy, help guide us through the responsibility of Yom Kippur.

11:00 am Sanctuary Service, Nussbaum Sanctuary. Immerse yourself in this service that is both classic in its liturgy with contemporary music and fosters a journey of introspection and connection – with oneself, the community, and the Divine. This service will be available on Zoom.

Yom Kippur Afternoon Sessions. No Tickets Required.

12:30–1:30 pm Soul Yoga with TIOH Executive Director and certified yoga instructor, Dr. Zach Lasker.

12:30–3:00 pm

  • Spiritual Journeys: God in Our Lives – Join fellow TIOH members as they share their stories of challenge, awe, and wonder. Featuring Annie Given Fink, Jody Litvak and Dr. Howie Mandel.
  • Social Justice Action. Join Rabbi Calvin Dox-DaCosta and the Social Justice Coalition along with Sue Dunlop, President of Planned Parenthood LA, for a lively discussion on reproductive rights.
  • Music of Forgiveness – Led by Senior Rabbi Mari Chernow.

The services for Mincha until the Final Shofar and Havdalah will be one link for streaming on Zoom.

3:15 pm Mincha Service, Nussbaum Sanctuary. No Ticket Required. Led by our clergy with the High Holiday Vocal Ensemble with a special presentation by Sue Dunlop, President of Planned Parenthood LA. This service will be available on Zoom.

4:45 pm Yizkor Service/Remembering Our Loved Ones, Nussbaum Sanctuary. No Ticket Required. A time to honor our deceased loved ones through song, Torah, and a video presentation. Special guest speakers TIOH members: Josh Hofheimer, Megan Rostovsky, and Ariella Lehrer. This service will be available on Zoom.

5:45 pm Ne’ilah/Closing the Gates, Nussbaum Sanctuary. No Ticket Required. Concluding with joy and dancing through the sanctuary aisles with our TIOH band. This service will be available on Zoom.

6:30 pm Final Shofar blast and Havdalah, Nussbaum Sanctuary. No Ticket Required. Chris Bubser, Michael Gropper, and Eric Levander will sound shofar. All children and young families are encouraged to attend. This service will be available on Zoom.
