A Jew Walks into the Woods: S.Y. Agnon’s In the Forest and the City.
Please register by December 14 so we can send you this short story written by the “Great Genius of Jewish Literature.” S.Y. Agnon won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1966. His stories draw heavily on classical Jewish texts at the same time that they portray a community struggling to transition into the modern world. This story draws out tension between trust and distrust of secular society, reverence and terror in the natural world, and justice and mercy.
