Screening of Bombshell documentary | Q+A with Director Alexandra Dean

In anticipation of the Oscars, TIOH’s Film Circle, facilitated by Tracy Aftergood and Ben Tysch, invites you to a special screening of “Bombshell: The Hedy Lemarr Story,” followed by a Q&A with the director, Alexandra Dean.

“Bombshell,” a biographical documentary about the actress and inventor Hedy Lamarr, the uncredited inventor of technology that would lead to the cell phone and Bluetooth. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2017, was a New York Times Critic’s Pick, and was numbered among Manohla Dargis’ favorite films of 2018 and Indiewire Critic’s top biographical documentaries ever made.

Alexandra Dean is an Emmy and Critic’s Choice Award-winning journalist and documentary director, and executive producer who has produced and directed for Netflix, PBS, Bloomberg, A&E, YouTube Originals, Hulu, and Peacock. She is best known for directing the feature documentaries “Bombshell: the Hedy Lamarr Story,” for Netflix and “This Is Paris,” for YouTube Originals, and the 10-part docu-series “Secrets of Playboy” on Hulu. Dean is the Showrunner and Director of the new Peacock series, “Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies”, which premiered in November and broke the record for the most viewed premiere on Peacock’s streaming service ever, scripted or non-scripted.
