The Hidden Jews of Ethiopia Photo Exhibit

A community of Beta Israel, or Jewish Ethiopians, navigate between tradition and the desire for visibility. For hundreds of years, the majority concealed their Jewish identity, privately observing traditions within the confines of their homes while outwardly presenting as Christian Orthodox. Through a series of evocative photographs by Kelly Fogel, we get a glimpse into the lives of the courageous individuals who are emerging into public spaces, full of transformative moments of introspection, communal gatherings, and expressions of identity.
This exhibit will be on display in Shpall Hall starting
September 5 – the end of 2024.
