Job Posting – Security Manager

We are looking for a professional with demonstrated leadership in law enforcement, military, and/or security who will manage a team of security guards to ensure our Jewish community is safe from a range of risks and vulnerabilities. Our Security Manager will utilize skills and instincts in protection, strategic action, organization, communication, training and supervision to excel at the job.

Context:

The physical safety of our community is a top priority at Temple Israel of Hollywood. Our mission is to provide spiritual, social-emotional, cultural, and social justice services through Jewish tradition to help people lead deeply meaningful lives. Our campus is home to a Jewish temple and three schools with a large volume of foot traffic. Our Security Manager reports day- to-day to our Director of Operations and is in regular communication with the Executive Director and other critical stakeholders. The position includes a range of management responsibilities combined with 30 hours per week of active guard duty.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the temple’s security team in partnership with our the third party vendor who employs and supervises our team of guards. This includes screening, training/onboarding, and supervising guards, scheduling shifts, leading team meetings, and enforcement of all security measures.
  • Participate in the rotation of active guard duty.
  • Monitor security systems and respond promptly to alerts or system malfunctions.
  • Handle conflict resolution and respond to emergencies in a calm and professional manner.
  • Work with the Operations Director to manage, update, and implement security protocols, including emergency operation procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations and Security Task Force to design and implement security/emergency trainings and drills for TIOH staff
  • Manage incident response and documentation/reporting procedures related to security/emergency incidents (e.g., trespassing, disturbances, or suspicious activities) in real-time.
  • Conduct regular security assessments to identify areas of vulnerability or potential improvement. Suggest solutions to improve safety and prevent incidents.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships and channels of proactive and reactive communication with a variety of stakeholders, including local law enforcement and partner agencies.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum eight years of experience in law enforcement, military, and/or school or faith- based security
  • College degree or advanced training/certifications in related fields
  • Demonstrated success in a position of leadership related to the job
  • Strong understanding of security technologies, protocols, and regulations
  • Training in protection services and emergency response
  • Must have a valid firearms permit and/or CCW
  • Organization skills to manage shift schedules, protocols, and procedures
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strategic mindset and proactive manner
  • Ability to assess risks and make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and ongoing random drug testing
