Job Posting – Building Engineer

We are seeking a proactive and resourceful professional to ensure that our campus is physically safe and fully operational. Our Building Engineer will use their technical skills to either perform direct repairs and maintenance on both stationary and mobile equipment or to contract with vendors on our behalf when external expertise is required. They will also work as a member of our contracted facilities team to assist with program set-ups and janitorial responsibilities. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Building Engineer will have supervised latitude for independent judgment and decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs and maintenance on stationary and mobile equipment that do not require permits or changes to building plans.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Screen relevant vendors and make timely recommendations for service and repair of any infrastructure beyond your skillset.
  • Collaborate with contracted facilities staff to address maintenance issues.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve potential problems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in building maintenance and facility engineering.
  • Technical expertise in at least two of the following areas: HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, construction, drywall, painting, or similar equivalent skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent skills in communication and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes.
  • Acts with kindness and integrity
  • Ability to manage and track a wide variety of tasks in an organized and efficient manner
  • Critical thinker and a proactive doer who sees ways to strengthen and streamline our operations
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment
  • Good sense of humor
