In her feature debut, writer/director and TIOH member Sherise Dorf offers a hilarious send-up of modern marriage and all of its trials and tribulations.
Rachel (Lisa Edelstein), a Jewish fifty-something, finds herself at a turning point; her only child is off to college, her marriage is listless, and she’s afraid the best years of her life are behind her. So, when she receives a wedding invitation from a former, much younger colleague (James Wolk), she jumps at the opportunity, sending back her RSVP and a gift as quickly as possible—a little too quickly. Rachel’s haste inadvertently sets off a chain reaction that has both couples reexamining their relationships, with Rachel’s best friend Gail (Gina Torres) doing her best to help. Beautifully messy and moving, The Everything Pot scrutinizes the expectations of marriage and relationships through an amusing yet touching lens, creating a comedy of errors that feels relatable as much as it is entertaining.
